Hawaiian Birthday Cake
It’s always great fun to create a birthday cake around a theme. One of the most entertaining parties we ever had was a Hawaiian birthday party, complete with pineapple Hawaiian birthday cake.
First of all, everyone should be invited to wear some sort of Hawaiian outfit to the birthday party. This can include something as simple as a Hawaiian flower shirt that you stuck in your closet since your last vacation, or something more extravagant. Some of our guests went so far as to make grass Hula skirts and wore plastic leis purchased from the local dollar store.
Another nice touch is to play Hawaiian music in the background. Hawaiian music is very soothing and relaxing. You can get all kinds on the internet, or just purchase an original Charles Ka'upu album.
Don’t forget to put some Hibiscus plants around the party, and if you want to go all out you can rent an imitation coconut tree and small tiki bar from your local party store. This will really add to the birthday party atmosphere.
A good Hawaiian birthday cake idea is to start with 10 inch by 16 inch sheet cake with 2 different cake mixes. Purchase whatever flavors you like at your local grocery store, then assemble as usual.
You can ice the cake with buttercream to give it a very tropical flavor and make it a real hit with the kids. Use a serrated knife to spread the icing into a wavy pattern, then airbrush the background of deep blue ocean and warm sandy beach.
Finally, add a palm tree and tiki hut with dark and white chocolate. An easy way to do this is to design the look on wax paper with the chocolate, then after they harden place them onto the cake wherever you feel they look good. Finally, add pieces of pineapple all around the edges to remind everyone of the great fragrances and sea shells that surround you in Hawaii.
Of course, the best part was actually eating this birthday cake. Everyone, from young ones to teenagers, as well as your adult guests will think this is one of the most unique birthday cake ideas they have seen in a long time.
